About you

  • 3+ years of experience working in a UX or user research role.
  • Solid research experience. Comfortable leading qual or quant research activities.
  • Experience working with GDS discovery.
  • Can demonstrate how you’ve turned research into actionable insight.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • You’re adaptable and can deliver a range of UX activities such as user journey mapping and information architecture. Perhaps you consider yourself ‘a research-focussed UXer’.
  • Innovative and creative mindset with a passion for delivering great work.
  • You love to collaborate, want to be around people and are open-minded to other people’s ideas.
  • Confident taking ownership of client accounts and project work.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Role overview 

As a Senior UX Consultant at Great State, you’ll run various types of UX projects with our clients, take an active role in developing our research practice and ensure that insight is effectively integrated into our design processes.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver UX work on our biggest projects. You’ll get to work on products that are used by thousands of people that makes a real difference – this could be an app to operate an EV or this could be a military project. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with a great variety of work.

  • Lead and manage UX projects from inception to delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Work across different projects and clients - you could be working on a research project, an IA project or a service design project.
  • Collaborate with clients and wider teams.
  • Map out and manage the tasks and ways of working to phase a project and bring it home smoothly.
  • Day-to-day management of the UX tasks on one or more projects. 
  • Conduct a variety of user research methods including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic studies.
  • Synthesise research findings into actionable insights and communicate them effectively to clients and internal teams.
  • Create UX deliverables such as personas, research reports or user journey maps.
  • Design and lead client workshops.
  • Champion quality, with meticulous attention to detail and polished execution in your work.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and help our clients understand the value of user research.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Play a part in defining research best practice and helping to establish this in the studio. If you’re interested in things like ‘research ethics’ – this role is a good fit for you.
  • Mentor and guide mid-weight and junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
