Great People: Introducing Jade Lovell
Meet Jade.
The bundle of positive energy you need in your working day. Reliable, hard-working; a solutions queen. Jade doesn't see problems - she just sees a way to get it done - and she manages to keep everyone happy whilst doing it. It's why our clients love her, it's why we love her! Introducing Account Director and queen of optimism, Jade.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Jade! One of the Account Directors at Great State. In simple terms, my role is all about relationships; looking after my clients and ensuring they have a great experience working with us. Equally important is ensuring that the work we produce delivers against their ambitions.
Since joining the Great State team, I’ve been lucky to work with our defence clients - which has included the British Army, Capita (Army recruitment) and the Royal Navy.
How did you get to be here?
As soon as I'd wrapped up my marketing degree at Plymouth University, I started trying to work out how I was going to fund travelling the world. But in the process, I met a digital agency at a careers fair who introduced me to the idea of working for one. I was drawn in by the culture, getting to work with inspiring and talented teams, as well as some amazing brands. So instead of travelling the world, I was swayed into giving the working world a shot.
Today, I have over 10 years' experience working in digital customer experience agencies. The clients and industries I’ve worked with are really varied; everything from global to local brands, to luxury clients and high street names and everything in between. I've worked with brands like Anthony Nolan, Hendrick’s Gin, ITV Media, Hunters Estate Agent, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, BMW Group and The Body Shop.
What are you working on right now?
My focus this year is the Royal Navy. I'm covering everything from their digital recruitment efforts to social, eCRM and the future of the Navy website (launched end of 2023, check out our Webby award win).
How do you know when you’ve produced something great?
I’m a people person, so for me, I know we've produced something great when we can clearly demonstrate the impact our work has had on real people - and how this has positively impacted a change in behaviour.
I love the moment when new bonds are formed within the team, and that feeling once the work has been delivered and it's time for a big lunch or drink to celebrate together.
Getting industry recognition is always the cherry on the cake too, and a great way for us and our clients to celebrate our successes together.
What excites you about your work?
I’m always learning. I love getting to immerse myself in my clients' organisations.
If I’ve not told you already, I got to spend 3 nights on HMS Queen Elizabeth recently; travelling all the way from from Portsmouth to Scotland. This was a pretty unique experience and an incredible way to experience life in the Royal Navy and see the beautiful UK coastline from a different perspective.
What excites you in life?
Returning to what I call ‘sunshine through my window’ aka the Bobby (French bulldog) and Stark (Labrador) duo. I spend my time exploring Bristol and the surrounding areas with my dogs or taking long walks along the Welsh coast.
Also the possibility of one day getting Glastonbury tickets again is exciting, roll on 2025.
What is the future of tech looking like to you?
Who knows, it’s always changing! Finding new ways to engage with future audiences is always a challenge and to me it’s experience first and then evaluating what is technically feasible. I’m lucky we have a super talented engineering team who are always sharing the latest in tech and pushing us to challenge how we do things.
Ask a question back. What do you want to know?
Anyone know a fool-proof way to actually getting Glasto tickets..?
